Bristol Boys take on Pointless

Bristol Uni students become Pointless stars

| UPDATED

This week saw two students from Bristol battle it out on everyone’s favourite game show, Pointless.

Alex Lindsay and Ali Maxwell got off to a strong start on Monday night’s show. The boys, both third year language students, kept their cool in the first two rounds on 90’s film characters and men who have run the Olympic 100m in under 10 seconds. Alex even scored a coveted pointless answer!

It was looking good for the boys as they cruised into the head-to-head. After lucking out in a bizarre round on ‘Foodstuffs from the British Isles with Protected Geographical Status’, the boys brought it back with knowledge of the British Museum that their lecturers would be proud of.

Unfortunately Alex, who studies Spanish and Portuguese, and Ali who studies French, were outrun by their opponents in the final part of the head-to-head round on Children’s Television. They faced a similar fate on Tuesday night’s episode too, and so sadly ended their Pointless career.

But it seems our two Bristol contestants have acquired something of a celebrity status following their TV appearance. The Tab has it on good authority that Alex has attracted many teenage girl fans in the twitter-sphere, whilst the boys received more than a few comments on their resemblance to Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy.

Well done boys, we thought you did a sterling job!
