Brizzle’s best charity shops

Nab yourself a bargain (and do something good with your dolla) with Tab Fashion’s handy guide to the best charity shops in Briz

Bristol is home to a myriad of brilliant charity shops, but where to start? And how to sift through the saggy beige numbers?

Never fear, The Tab is here to help you find your way through the grandma cardigans and discover some real treasures.

Clic Sargent, Cotham Hill

By far the coolest charity shop in Bristol, the lay out is simple and cute with lots of vintage denim and vinyl records.

St Peter’s Hospice, St Michael’s Hill

St Peter’s Hospice at 147 St Michael’s Hill

Conveniently located right next to uni, it’s perfect to check out in between lectures and neatly laid out with some unique items.

Mind & St Peter’s Hospice on Cotham Hill

Cotham Hill houses several charity shops and these two are great for vintage finds.

Salvation Army, Cheltenham Road

Salvation Army, Cheltenham Road

With a mix of weird and wonderful this charity shop perfectly reflects the Stokes Croft area around it. Stokes Croft is also home to Gloucester Road which is thriving with independent and charity shops. We recommend Shelter – a new shop with a huge selection.

Who can resist a baah-gain like this!?

Don’t forget these key tips for great charity shop-shopping:

  • Always go with a friend – two pairs of eyes are better than one, and sometimes we need someone to tell us “No! Those shoulder pads just aren’t going to work for you!”

  • Go through every single rack. Tedious but necessary as the gems are often hidden in-between the shockers.

  • Think outside the box. That t-shirt may not look so good now, but what if you cropped or knotted it? Could those jeans be turned it to cut offs?

  • Don’t forget to try things on. Be daring. You never know if it will suit you or not!
