Burst Bid For Tequila Party

Burst Radio and UWE’s Hub Radio fight over free tequila, man from Hot Chip

The Bristol/UWE rivalry has taken to the airwaves in a national competition to discover which university can put together the best Spotify playlist.

The competition, sponsored by Jose Cuervo tequila, will reward the university radio station which receives the most votes with a “legendary night out” hosted by Orlando and Sam from The Maccabees and Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip.

Coming to Bristol?

If that’s not enough to persuade you to vote, individual voters could also win prizes ranging from festival tickets to Microsoft Surface tablets. Burst will also be giving away bottles of Jose Cuervo live on air so be sure to tune in for a chance to win.

Burst’s playlist ‘BURST Introducing’ aims to feature some of the finest upcoming music talent of 2013, with tracks from the likes of AlunaGeorge, Jai Paul and Bristol graduates The Other Tribe.

“Winning the competition and beating our rival universities will put the University of Bristol and Burst Radio on the map so we need as much support as possible to help us to get there” said Burst’s Head of Marketing Henry Whittingdale.

Burst station manager Rob Griffiths added“I don’t want UWE to get it. Also there might be free tequila if we win!”

At the time of writing Burst Radio have fallen from 1st place to 28th following a surge in voting for other universities. Rather embarrassingly, Hub Radio are all the way up in 3rd place.

Students can find the playlists on Spotify or here. Voting closes on Sunday 5th May at 7pm.
