The Bristol Sound

Aidan Kelly & Burst Radio return with the hottest sounds from the local music scene

The Bristol Sound: Bringing you new releases from our local Bristolians, as well as highlights of Bristol’s nightlife each week.

Local Talent

Local drummer and DJ Typesun put out ‘The PL’ EP a couple weeks back, and is fresh from performing at the BBC’s legendary Maida Vale for a feature with BBC Introducing in the West.

Already being compared to soul salwarts like Raphael Saadiq, it grooves along nicely, whilst on the flip fellow Bristolians Behling & Simpson work it into their classic chunky house sound.

Events This Week

As the dust settles in Motion after Just Jack’s marathon Birthday Party, where Theo Parrish blew minds all night long in the Tunnel, there’s plenty more going on in Bristol.

YouTube star Eton Messy is hosting yet another night, this time at The Croft – expect plenty of future garage, UK Bass and early 00’s RnB samples, with rising star Palé headlining proceedings.

On Friday Night 51’27 climb aboard Thekla and bring along Duke Dumont, the rising House DJ with a recent BBC Essential Mix to his name.

And for anyone looking for something a little more off-kilter, on Friday local promoters Housework are transforming the Motorcycle Showroom’s newly refurbished Studio in Stokes Croft, bringing along New York’s Anthony Naples and his shuffling style of house music.

Keep An Eye On…

The Eclectic DJ Oneman has taken steps into his own productions and prepared ‘Solitude Vol.1’, a debut Mixtape packed full of edits and his own productions.

He’s touring to promote all this, and rolls into Bristol on the 16th of February at The Croft, whose intimate 200 capacity should be packed to the rafters for one of the most revered UK DJs with a habit for playing Millionaire by Kelis.

Brought to you by the good folks over at Burst Radio.
