These are the five biggest events going down in Newcastle this fortnight

Your loan isn’t going to spend itself

Refreshers may be over, but that doesn’t mean the best nights of the term are behind you. Judging by what’s coming through Newcastle in the next couple of weeks, the best is yet to come.

So drag yourself away from Netflix, get the beers in, and head out to discover the night like a 21st century Columbus.

If you snooze, you lose, so here’s a run-down of the huge events you need to get down to in the next two weeks.

De La Soul

When: Wednesday 22nd February

Where: Northumbria SU

How often can you say you had your post lecture pint while you catch a gig from a grammy nominated band? Not often at all, and tickets are still up for grabs…but for how long we couldn’t tell you!

De La Soul are anything but strangers on the hip hop scene. After more than 20 years of sell out shows and world tours, this is a comeback worth waiting for. Back with their first album in 12 years, And the Anonymous Nobody, NSU is about to get blown away.

Expect fresh beats, as well as classics like Me Myself and I, and Steaks is High.

Dilate – Jungle Special ft. Benny Page

When: Saturday 25th February

Where: World HQ

World HQ know how to get it right, and with Benny Page headlining a one off Jungle Special, this Saturday will be no exception. If you’re familiar with Page, you know to expect a night of heavyweight dance-floor tracks to keep you on your toes until the small hours.

With support from Newcastle’s Danox and Haxby and a whole lot more, Dilate are mixing it up, and all for only £10.

Pre-drinks playlist recommendation: Welcome to the Jungle Vol. 4, and of course Page’s breakthrough track, Turn Down The Lights.

Don’t miss your chance to get your Jungle on this Saturday

Fleetmac Wood Rumours Rave

When: Thursday 2nd March

Where: World HQ

To celebrate one of the greatest albums of all time, Fleetmac Wood are bringing Rumours Rave to Newcastle for one night only to celebrate the 40th birthday of Rumours, after their sold out show in London.

No, It’s not quite the same as watching Stevie and Lindsey smash it on stage, but reframing the classic on the dancefloor to magical mixes of Dreams, Go Your Own Way, Songbird, and the highlights of their back catalogue is pretty huge.

Don’t think you know much Fleetwood Mac? Your parents probably played it in the car.

Milk the Cow ft. Jerome Hill

When: Friday 3rd March

Where: SR44

Taking a night off from bringing the tunes to London’s Kool FM, Jerome Hill is coming to SR44 with a 2 hour techno set. His regular club night in Dalston is a constant sell out, and next Friday looks like it’s going the same way.

If that’s not enough to drag you away from Netflix, bare in mind this isn’t your standard Milk The Cow night: it’s Micky C and Mike Cow’s birthday celebrations, so it’s sure to be large! Psych yourself up and listen to them both on Milk the Cow’s podcast before you head on down.

Where: World HQ

After beating some huge names to the title, 2017 is lined up to be large for the house DJ.

Over in the UK from Berlin for a limited time only, you’d best catch him whilst you can. Tickets are yet to go on sale, so keep your eyes on Prelinks to be the first to know.
