What music defines you? Sound Clash is back

The Warwick rowers decided to go heavy on Flume remixes

Sound Clash is back again – it’s the only time clubs and societies can go against each other and prove who really is the best.

Each club must create their own Spotify playlist around the sounds which define them.

Whether it’s a naughty Bieber compilation or a deep house jazz collab, societies only have 30 songs to get the most followers on their playlist.

The playlist with the most followers in the UK will take home the £10,000 mega prize, but the mix has to fit the society’s vibe.

Sound Clash only opened yesterday and it has already had dozens of entries, including playlists from Warwick rowing, the UEA cheer girls and Beckett’s lacrosse team.

The Warwick rowers decided to go heavy on Flume, but have balanced the playlist out with some Kanye and Justin Timberlake. Whereas King’s football club opted for a combo of noughties bangers and drum and bass.

The playlist can be a mix of anything from 100 per cent EDM to the Lion King soundtrack.

Sound Clash was first created in 2014 and this is the competition’s third year running. The 2015 competition attracted more than 420 entrants and over 30,000 playlist followers in total.

Last year Sound Clash went down to the wire between two rival rowing clubs.

Both Newcastle and Southampton Boat Clubs went head-to-head with both teams moving past 4,000 playlist followers. In the dying moments of the competition, Newcastle edged ahead of their southern rivals with over 5,000 followers to secure the win and the bragging rights on the water.
