The ultimate guide to Freshers’ Week for Bournemouth Uni students
New to BU or just fancy reminiscing your first year days? I’ve got you covered with the full list of what’s on for this year’s Freshers’!
Ah, Freshers’. For some of you, this is the reason you chose Bournemouth Uni or decided to have a go at getting a degree in the first place. Well to make it worth it – here is the full list of announced Fresher events across Bournemouth, in September and October 2024.
Note, there is a wristband available for students to access multiple Fresher events, called the Freshers’ Wristband! This could be a good money saver so you can spend the remaining pennies on your walk back from the club, when you accidentally stumble into dominoes or the kebab-y.
If you want year round savings, A-List card might be useful to you! Check out their instagram or website for more information.
The Old Fire Station
The Old Fire Station (TOFS), is the student club. Situated on the doorstep of many first year accommodations it is the perfect place to bond with your new housemates, find your bae for the week and drown in cheap double vodka and cokes. TOFS have made it super duper easy this year, by releasing a full list of their Fresher events on instagram.
Starting Friday 20th September with their most popular event, Lollipop. This event happens every Friday and is hot amongst first year BU students.

Cameo
Cameo Nightclub is a Wednesday and Saturday night favourite amongst all university students. With special deals on Wednesdays and this being the selected societies night out, it’s a guaranteed laugh. Get used to being in Cameo basement, because if you’re a clubber you will spend majority of first year getting sweaty down there.
Monday 23rd September, The Big Fresher Icebreaker
Thursday 26th September, Freshers Foam Party
Sunday 29th September, The Glitch Freshers Rave
The Vault
The Vault is located in the Triangle, and it known for being the centre of Bournemouth’s rave scene. The up and coming club has promoted one Fresher event so far and has announced its involvement with Inner Love Festival, but I won’t be surprised if more pop up closer to the time.

Saturday 28th September – Playhouse Saturdays
PopWorld
Pop it, lock it, polka-dot it down to PopWorld this Freshers’. PopWorld is known nationwide for blasting noughties cheesy hits for you to shake your hips to on the dance floor. Don’t miss out on one of Bournemouth’s newest clubs celebrating their first Freshers week.
Wednesday 25th September, Student Traffic Wednesdays
Thursday 26th September, KaraokeStar Thursdays
Friday 27th September, Stand Up comedy with Tom Ward, followed up by slay Fridays
Saturday 28th September, Tropicana Day party, followed up by Unleashed Saturdays
The George Tapps
The George Tapps is a pub based on Old Christchurch road, one of the closest to the strip of BU accommodations. A note form personal experience, its beer garden sessions are not for the faint of heart. You think you won’t end up hanging off your chair and praying for tomorrow to be a hangover free day, because you’re simply at the pub. You will be proved wrong. The sun (hopefully), the scenes, the DJs… ah, it’s a student’s dream.
Its promoted event, The Freshers Garden Party, is on Saturday 28th September.
Diva
The new, up and coming LGBTQIA+ club located in The Triangle. Diva is jumping into the student nightlife scene by hosting a week full of Fresher events.

Inner Love Festival
Across the 27th and 28th September, the Inner Love Festival will be taking to the streets of Bournemouth. With DJs such as BlackChild, SOSA and Robbie Doherty – one ticket will grant you access to multiple venues across the two days. Some students deem this THE Fresher event.
The venues include: Aruba, BigWigs Bakery, Eden, Halo Temple, The Vault and 60 Million Postcards
Ones to watch
There are more to be announced, but this list will keep you busy for the time being. Keep your eyes peeled on the social media accounts for: Sound Circus (Alt), DYMK Club, Canvas, Bear Cave, Mimosa Bar Bournemouth and The O2 – as they have not yet announced their Freshers’ events.
Have fun movin’ and groovin’ you silly freshers.
