Eight food hotspots you must try as a Bournemouth University student

Good food is the best way to survive university life, so these are tastiest food hotspots you must try while living in Bournemouth

| UPDATED

One of the main motivations to get you through life as a Bournemouth University student is good food. But let’s be honest, most of us don’t really know how to cook nor can we be bothered to trek to the nearest supermarket for ingredients. Thankfully, Bournemouth Town has an incredible selection of restaurants and café’s for you to survive all the woes of being a Bournemouth Uni student. If you’ve forgotten a deadline, you’re missing home or you just need an excuse to hang out with your housemates, then treat yourselves to a visit to one of these food hotspots! Here’s eight places you must try as a student in Bournemouth

7Bone

The Donnie J Trump Burger and menu at 7Bone, Bournemouth.

Without a doubt, 7Bone is the most interesting menu I think I’ve ever got to pick from. The names of the burgers are hilarious and were one of the main reasons I had to check the place out. If you fancy trying the “Prince Charles is Overrated”, the “Dirty Linda” or my personal favourite the “Donnie J Trump” then you must head into Bournemouth Town centre and pop in.

Picnic Park Deli

Breakfast at the Picnic Park Deli in amongst the Lower Square Gardens.

If you’re after a Pinterest worthy breakfast than Picnic Park Deli is an adorable place to check out. Based in the Lower Park Gardens, the deli serves super cute brunches, lunches and cocktails that you can tuck into from the beautiful views of the park. And if you’re visiting on a weekend then you’ll be treated to live music with your meal! If that’s not sold you then you should know they even offer special cakes for your dogs, so you can make a day of it with your four-legged bestie!

Noodle Bar

Are you really a Bournemouth Uni student if you haven’t tucked into one of the huge bowls from Noodle Bar at least once? The restaurant is located just round the corner from the majority of student accommodations and is always a hit with the first years. The portion sizes are HUGE yet the price is so reasonable. You get the chance to completely customise your meal, picking your choice of noodles, meat and seasoning. Plus, if you own an A list card then you can even get 50 per cent off the total bill.

Cosy Club

The fish finger sandwich and truffle fries combo from Cosy Club and the quirky paintings they decorate the restaurant with.

Cosy Club is one of my favourite places to eat in Bournemouth. The ambience inside the restaurant is beautiful and makes eating there incredibly warm and of course, cosy. The restaurant is decorated in quirky paintings and big chandeliers across all three floors. Their menu offers plenty of tasty options for all courses of the day and caters to vegans and veggies!

Deli on the Quay

The focaccia bread toasties from Deli on the Quay and the cosy layout inside.

If you want to venture into Poole for the day but aren’t sure where to eat, Deli on the Quay is the perfect quaint location for lunch. Their food is wonderful, and it makes a great date location! I chose to have the toastie in focaccia bread, which was delicious but there are also daily special quiche’s up for grabs, making this café so homely.

Urban Garden

The view of the Urban Garden from Lower Square Gardens in the winter.

Urban Garden was my choice of birthday restaurant this year and it did not disappoint. They’re located in the Lower Square Gardens and nickname themselves the “not so hidden garden”. The somewhat secluded location makes the atmosphere so enticing. They decorated their restaurant with fairy lights, which is a wonderful addition in the winter. The food is all sourced locally, making it all the more delicious.

The Bournemouth Stable

The Menu in the Stable, at the candlelit table.

The Stable is one of the first restaurants I tried after moving to Bournemouth and it did not disappoint. My mum had come down to visit and I needed somewhere impressive yet reasonable to take her – and The Stable was the perfect choice. Their specialty is gorgeous sourdough pizza and craft pints – and they even do bottomless brunch!

FLIRT Cafe and Bar

Breakfast at flirt, the syrup pancake stack and the strawberry smoothie!

Flirt Cafe and bar is the perfect place to head for breakfast and lunch if you are after a fun, welcoming environment with tasty food. The cafe is hard to miss in Bournemouth’s LGBTQIA+ hub, The Triangle, with its sparkly green banner and the glamour certainly doesn’t end there. The cafe has a quirky and vibrant aesthetic and the servers are all incredibly friendly.

And that’s my run down of the eight best places for students to eat in Bournemouth! I expect your mouths are already watering  so don’t hesitate to get your reservations in and treat you and your friends do a day of laughs, stories and some good ol’ food.
