Storm Emma hits BU with blizzard conditions

Not being dramatic but everything is cancelled

There’s nothing like a bit of snow to make the whole country grind to a halt, and today has been no exception.

An enormous 2cm of snow fell across Bournemouth today, prompting the closure of campus this afternoon.

In true British fashion, everyone went absolutely crazy – Lidl even sold out of bread.

Think panic buying tinned food, a video of some fool skiing to work and chaos on the roads.

The 6 o'clock news will undoubtedly be dedicated to footage of children tobogganing and having snowball fights.

You’d think we’d never seen snow before.

BU even decided that there was no other option but to close campus for the whole weekend, due to the clearly hazardous conditions.

It's really wild out there

The threat of worsening weather conditions was too much for some, as all lectures and seminars were cancelled from midday onward.

What a shame.

It's not cold

And of course no snow day would be complete without classic British panic buying.

You'd think there was a war on

I can exclusively confirm a bread shortage in Lidl. Everybody stay calm!!

BU have just announced that campuses will be closed until Monday, meaning an extra day under the duvet for students.

Bournemouth's closure isn't exactly helping the stereotype that southerners are weak when it comes to cold weather as universities across the country make every effort to open as usual.

Birmingham is north right?

Stay safe out there tonight kids.
