Here are some of the things that you didn’t know are in the Students’ Union Building

It’s actually called the Student Centre

You might walk past the SUBU Student Centre daily, but I bet you don't know as much about it as you think you do. Well, here are a few things you can do inside the Students' Union building.

Fancy a game of Wii Nintendo Land?

Play on the games consoles

There's actually some pretty cool activities on offer in there, that a lot of students know nothing about. A game of Nintendo Wii Sports tennis should help to ease the stress of essay writing and upcoming exams. Best get in there fast though, the consoles are usually taken up pretty quickly.

Table football anyone?

Play table football

There's a pretty obvious table football game right in the entrance of the union building but, if I'm honest, I've actually never seen anyone use it. But hey ho it is there, even if it is just frequently used as a coffee rest.

Secret time capsule… oooh

See an actual, real life time capsule

There's a time capsule in the building too which is pretty cool. Yes, in 2042 this mysterious capsule will be opened – anyone else wonder what is inside and up for a reunion in 25 years?

Quality food crew.. yummy

Have loads and loads of coffee

Not going to lie though, you probably already knew that there is a coffee shop in SUBU. But, did you know that there's another one on the 3rd floor? Have you ever even ventured that far up the building?

Go through the bridge to the library

Yes, this exists and hardly anyone knows about it. There's a bridge that connects SUBU to the third floor of the Sir Michael Cobham Library – so you can get from one building to the other without having to even venture outside.

Them Wendy houses though

Rent out the huts

Relaxation time. The Wendy houses are there for group work and discussions but also look pretty cool, especially since summer was soo long ago. They can be rented for study time, or somewhere to go if you just want to hang out in a little hut tbh.

So, I think it's safe to say that our Students' Union building is full of hidden gems, and that's without mentioning all the people in there that you can go and speak to – like the full time officers or SUBU Advice. Next time you go to the infamous SUBU Towers, why not try out some of things that they have going on in there.
