"I want to represent the most influential and exceptional community of people I’ve ever met in my life - the BU students."

“I want to represent the most influential and exceptional community of people I’ve ever met in my life – the BU students.”

What made you decide to run for SUBU President?

The chance to stay in Bournemouth after graduation and represent the most influential and exceptional community of people I’ve ever met in my life – the BU students.

Briefly outline in one sentence what your key policies are & why you are different from the other candidates?

My policies include representing our diverse range of student voices, reducing the divide between Lansdowne and Talbot students, and keeping Wednesdays free for participation in clubs and societies.

I’m a hard working guy who’s friendly and approachable. I’m willing to have a chat with any and every student I come across.

Assuming BU win the £50k Pimp My Summer Ball competition, If you were asked to decide how to spent the money, what would you buy?

It would only be fair to ask the students themselves what they wanted at the ball, although I wouldn’t say no to a free ice cream van for when the sun is getting a bit too hot to handle!

Do you have any weird/hidden talents? Or a strange fact about you that people wouldn’t usually know?

I’ve met the Queen twice and I rowed at a national level before coming to BU.

If you could compare yourself to an animal, what would you be and why?

A Lion, they love a good sleep after they eat a big meal which sounds like me!

“I want to make sure SUBU is run well and properly as well as seeing stronger ties with the local community.”

What made you decide to run for SUBU President?

A desire to make a positive change on the lives of students here at BU, and to ensure that our Union is run considerably better than it already is.

Briefly outline in one sentence what your key policies are & why you are different from the other candidates?

I want to make sure SUBU is run well and properly as well as seeing stronger ties with the local community so as to show the local people that we students are not the bad guys!

Assuming BU win the £50k Pimp My Summer Ball competition, If you were asked to decide how to spent the money, what would you buy?

I am thinking several massive acts need to be brought in – alongside a massive sign reminding our rival University’s just how much we beat them by.

Do you have any weird/hidden talents? Or a strange fact about you that people wouldn’t usually know?

I sing in a choir. I wear a pink cassock every Sunday and I sing second Bass.

If you could compare yourself to an animal, what would you be and why?

A lion, just so I can swing my main in the wind and say ‘L’Oreal – Because you’re worth it’.

“I want to work with students to make their university experience the best it can be.”

What made you decide to run for SUBU President?

I am the current rag president and already work closely with SUBU. I thought that I would be a good candidate for president and have wanted to run for the position since my second year.

Briefly outline in one sentence what your key policies are & why you are different from the other candidates?

I have a lot of experience with SUBU and am an outgoing and enthusiastic person. I am approachable and want to work with students if elected to find out how we can make their university experience the best it can be.

Assuming BU win the £50k Pimp My Summer Ball competition, If you were asked to decide how to spent the money, what would you buy?

I would find out from students what they would like.

Do you have any weird/hidden talents? Or a strange fact about you that people wouldn’t usually know?

I can salsa dance.

If you could compare yourself to an animal, what would you be and why?

I would be a monkey as they have a fun cheeky side to them!

“I want to do everything I can to ensure that all students have full access to the activities that would build their ideal individual university experience.”

What made you decide to run for SUBU President?

I feel lucky to be at a university which offers such a diverse range of opportunities and I want to do everything I can to ensure that all students have full access to the activities that would build their ideal individual university experience.

Briefly outline in one sentence what your key policies are & why you are different from the other candidates?

BU – Be You – Have it Your Way!

I come with no comprehensive list of manifesto points and deliberately so. I will use the campaigning period to identify trends in student opinion as to what would enhance their times at BU. Hot topics include house guarantors, misrepresentation of courses and access to clubs & socs.

Assuming BU win the £50k Pimp My Summer Ball competition, If you were asked to decide how to spent the money, what would you buy?

The only fair, reasonable thing to do would be to gather student ideas, before submitting the most popular/viable suggestions to an all-student vote.

Do you have any weird/hidden talents? Or a strange fact about you that people wouldn’t usually know?

I once cycled in my underpants with no cash from Land’s End to John O’Groats for charity.

If you could compare yourself to an animal, what would you be and why?

As President of BU Free Fall Club, I like to spend a lot of time in the air! I also used to train birds of prey for a living, so I suppose some sort of Eagle!

“I’ve nearly doubled student participation in SUBU Volunteering this year – I want to continue benefitting students.”

What made you decide to run for SUBU President?

I’m the SUBU Volunteering President, sit on the Activities council and Exec committee and I’m also in loads of clubs and societies. I’ve nearly doubled student participation in SUBU Volunteering this year and I really want to continue at SUBU benefitting as many students as possible.

Briefly outline in one sentence what your key policies are & why you are different from the other candidates?

My key policies range from increasing funding for clubs and societies, to introducing environmental schemes.

I’m different from the other candidates because I have loads of experience in SUBU but I also represent your average student really well.

Assuming BU win the £50k Pimp My Summer Ball competition, If you were asked to decide how to spent the money, what would you buy?

It would be wicked to have a massive kid’s adventure area with loads of ball pools and slides – I think everyone misses these!

Do you have any weird/hidden talents? Or a strange fact about you that people wouldn’t usually know?

I have a bit of an obsession with orca whales and orang-utans! They’re so similar to humans in their behaviours and they’re really smart.

If you could compare yourself to an animal, what would you be and why?

A spaniel – because of the hair! But also I’m always enthusiastic and I love a good cuddle!

“I have what it takes to help SUBU make a positive impact on every student’s time at BU!”

What made you decide to run for SUBU President?

As a twice elected Part Time Officer for SUBU (Environmental + Community) I have loved making a difference to the lives of BU students. I believe I have what it takes to help SUBU make a positive impact on every student’s time at BU!

Briefly outline in one sentence what your key policies are & why you are different from the other candidates?

I want to campaign against unpaid placements, for longer library opening hours and increase opportunities for student engagement and employment. I know these matter to students from my experience over the past two year working for SUBU.

Assuming BU win the £50k Pimp My Summer Ball competition, If you were asked to decide how to spent the money, what would you buy?

I would put it towards an incredible headline act!

Do you have any weird/hidden talents? Or a strange fact about you that people wouldn’t usually know?

I can play the drums and I’ve sung at the Royal Albert Hall dressed as a carrot!

If you could compare yourself to an animal, what would you be and why?

A cat, because if I could sleep all day, I would!
