Man dies after falling from a car park roof next to the UoB campus

The incident happened at around 10am on October 20th


Yesterday, October 20th, a man died from falling from the roof of a multi-story car park. The car park is located on Pritchatts Road, surrounded by buildings owned by the University of Birmingham.

The man who fell was treated at the scene by paramedics, when the paramedics arrived the man was in critical condition. A witness at the scene said she saw paramedics giving the man CPR. After receiving treatment from paramedics the man was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment.

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Police said “emergency services were called just after 10am. Sadly nothing could be done to save him and he died a short time later”.

The spokesperson also said the “death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner”.

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulances said “three ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene”.

The spokesperson also said that “an off-duty paramedic also stopped at the scene to offer assistance”.
