There’s a free bus taking students home safely from campus from Monday

All aboard the Selly Express

There will now be a free shuttle bus from the Library to Selly Oak.

It was confirmed the bus would be running overnight this afternoon.

The bus service begins on 15th October, this Monday and will run from 8pm-1:05am, leaving from the Library and the Guild.

The bus leaves every half hour and runs from Monday to Friday.

The shuttle bus, aptly named 'the Selly Express', was one of the main promises made by Reece Roberts in the Guild Elections this year.

On Facebook, Mr Roberts highlighted that the University had only provided funding for the year and asked students 'to use the bus… and prove to the University that this is necessary for our student family.' In a "use it or lose it fashion".

It comes as UoB students become increasingly concerned about their safety following the Heeley Road stabbing.

Three people were arrested in connection with the incident, including two teenagers on suspicion of attempted murder.

The Guild have told UoB to ‘prioritise the safety of its students’ after the stabbing.
