Police were called to Pryzm at 12:30am this morning after overcrowding and safety concerns.

Clubbers turned up in droves to see grime artist J Hus, but were turned away due to Pryzm being over capacity, despite it being a ticket only event.

People were unable to get into the venue despite many of them claiming to have bought tickets in advance.

In response to the numbers, the police and ambulance services were called to deal with the situation, and sealed Broad Street off to traffic.

This fiasco is deeply worrying for Pryzm, which replaced Gatecrasher after it was closed due to stabbings and abuses committed by security staff.

Pryzm has since issued the following response: “Our Tuesday night student event was extremely popular and completely sold out. It is a ticket-only event and we don’t allow ‘walk ins’.

“At about 12.45am, we had a large number of people without tickets trying to gain entrance. For the safety of our customers and to control numbers, we rightfully took the decision to close the doors and asked the police to assist with a peaceful dispersal.

“At all times, our priority was to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our customers. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
