Birmingham University has been ranked 82nd globally, with a score of 67.2 in the QS World rankings.

Released today, this means that Brum has fallen four spots since last year.

Released annually, the QS World Rankings rate Universities according to research, teaching, employability and internationalisation (how well Universities attract students and teachers from overseas). This year, 940 Universities from across the World were included in its ratings.

Last year, Brum was ranked 76th with a score of 74.6, however this year saw a fall in its Academic Reputation, from 82.4 to 73.9 giving it a global ranking of 99. Employer Reputation was also down considerably to 88.7 giving it a ranking of 65 but a rise in the ration of students per faculty led to a large decrease in its global ranking to 264.

The amount of Brum’s work that was cited also decreased giving it a score of 50.1. However, there was a rise in the number of staff and students from overseas leading to a higher score of 90.3 and 84.3 respectively.
