Birmingham University is the ninth most popular uni in the UK for freshers starting in 2016.

The findings, from whatuni.com, suggest Birmingham has received the ninth most applications from prospective students.

We beat Oxford University, who only managed to bag themselves tenth place, despite their reputation.

Hard to beat, really

More than 8,000 students submitted their UCAS choices through Whatuni.com’s online Final 5 tool, where they were required to list their top five unis in order of preference.

Loughborough gained the top spot, while Manchester, Nottingham and Surrey also made the top five.

Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds were all beaten to the top spot by Loughborough University.

Third year, Guy, told the Tab: “I’m surprised Loughborough is at the top, but not surprised that Birmingham has made the top top ten, though I expect nothing less than number 1 next year.

“Tough luck Oxford, but we all know that we’re better than you, it’s just official now.”

According to Ucas, 532,300 people entered higher education last year – an increase of 3.1 per cent, or 16,100 applicants, making this the highest number recorded.

Big up Brum, we all love you dearly.
