There’s a polar vortex headed toward NI, and it’s probably going to snow

As if Trump wasn’t bad enough

As you’ve probably already felt, a seriously cold winter is latching itself onto the usually tropical environment of NI. Temperatures are already hitting sub zero and expected to drop to new lows not seen since the 2010/11 winter, which was a 100 year record for temperature drop.

Scientists say that temperatures are set to plummet throughout December and January, but the verdict is still out on whether or not we’ll have a White Christmas. James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, warned of several significant cold spells through Winter.

He said: “From the late part of this weekend and into next week things will turn much colder from the north and spreading to many other parts of the country.

“This will also bring an increase in the snow risk levels across the country in among some periods of unsettled weather in November, and parts of the north will see some significant snow across higher ground. The Arctic Oscillation (AO) will start to trend more towards negative territory from this point forward and this will also begin to build the right conditions for a colder than average winter this year.

“There will be phases of strongly negative plunges particularly from December to January. This will result in some very potent or potentially memorable periods of cold and snow within this period for many parts of the country.”

So basically it’s going to be very very cold. Wrap up everyone, winter is coming.

Hopefully you wont have to go to uni. Like you were going to anyway.
