QUB single honours degrees at risk of being cut
Entry requirements are also being raised
Courses with less than 20 students are at risk of being dropped in QUB’s plans to shake up programmes.
In documents planning to change Queen’s’ degree programmes, single honour courses are under fire as new requirements will need to be met.
As part of the Vision 2020 proposals, which include the student union development and Mandela Hall demolition, single honours students may find their course to be at risk as Queen’s plans to cut its number of schools.
As part of the new proposals, A-Level entry requirements may also be raised to at least an A and two B’s.
The university’s Institutional Size and Shape Review document includes that undergraduate courses will require at least 20 enrolled students, and 12 for level three and postgrad.
The university ruling senate will meet next month to discuss these proposed changes.
