Meet the Property fresher who is a model, a harpist and also works in PR

She has more than 3,000 Facebook friends

At 9am in a Starbucks that felt like it was located somewhere on the North Pole, I sat down to interview student sensation Ciara. Between her 3000+ friends on Facebook, a booming social life, her PR and modelling work, fire-dancing, presenting events such as Dubshed, and Drag Racing Ireland, and her job as a booked-out harpist, she was hard to get a hold of. Among all of that 19-year-old Ciara is studying Property, Town Planning and Housing at Belfast Met. She is the Regina George of Belfast.

Her hair is full of secrets

Ciara’s life is like an episode of Sex and the City. Her lectures are full of attractive people doing work, pulling, dancing, and gossiping over drinks. But is her life hard? Does she just sit about and work all day? Juggling a career as a harpist and a model alongside her busy PR work must be difficult, mustn’t it? Apparently not. Ciara claims the craic in her life at Belfast Met is “much greater than ninety.”

She even reaches out to her enemies like a good Samaritan to induct them into her mental lifestyle: “I like everybody,” she claims. “The minority of people I don’t like… well, I’d still drink with them. Drink’s drink like.”

Juggling the high life of modelling, PR work and a music career with the low life of essays and exams can be a tortuous see-saw in Ciara’s life.

“I feel both like a Rugrat on Red Bull in Funky Monkeys, but also like I regularly fight back the urge to stick a fork in the toaster. My course is incredibly boring. The only funny things that have happened were on nights out. But those are secrets. Let’s just say if I told you… I’d have to kill you.”

Ciara modelling

What has Ciara learned from her life of bacchanal celebration and multiple talents? Is it really all just partying and balancing her hectic schedule between modelling, PR and playing the harp? “I once said, “For every stormy night there’s a sunny day.” I was absolutely smelling the number purple when I said it like but it’s fucking gorgeous.”

Ciara suggested that I get that quote tattooed on my forehead. Not only is she a wild socialite, but also a great guru.

She even got to meet the Blue Power Ranger at Box

As a property student, housing and design are always on Ciara’s mind. Her ideal house is a beautiful castle with a “Netflix and chill dungeon”. When we choose a course, we of course choose it for our futures, our education, our career prospects and, of course, for the talent. Of which, in the property student market, there seems to be a plethora. “One of them in particular is absolutely Netflix and chill material but that’s a wee secret. The rest I would swipe left, unfortunately. But they are all nice people. That one Netflix and chill one though – I would happily ruin that friendship because he’s a stunner. Pure Stundog Millionaire. He goes to Stunderland. Stunderbolts and lightning.”

After informing Ciara that Durham University offers a course in Harry Potter, Rutger’s University lets you study the Queen Bey herself, Beyoncé, and you could get a degree in The Science of Batman at Victoria University, Ciara said she would “so rather get a degree in Beyoncé,” but she “wouldn’t want any other people on [her] course.”

If you like it then you should’ve put a ring on it

Ciara is particularly proud of her harp business: “I’ve been playing harp for over 10 years now, I finally decided to start my own business called HarpStringsNI. It meant a lot of me as it’s my very own business at the age of 19. I play at weddings, conferences and business events and even had the honour of playing the harp for Gerry Adams.”

What is there to be said about Ciara other than “wow”? It’s non-stop work, living the fast and high life, and still getting to go wild in clubs at the weekends. Girls want to be her, boys… also want to be her. Let’s face it, nothing’s cooler than a fire-dancing model, drag race-presenting, PR-ing harpist with a roster of Facebook friends bigger than the population of the Falkland Islands.
