The Tab Belfast is looking for new writers

Join the team now

With over 150,000 readers a month, The Tab is Queen’s Uni’s most popular news source.

After two years, we have broken exclusive news stories, interviewed campus BNOCs and partied with Basshunter.

We have grown a 17,000-person-strong following on Facebook, with the average article getting 5,500 hits.

Our reporters regularly carry out work experience at national papers and have gone on to work for The Guardian, Telegraph, Sunday Times and sites such as Buzzfeed and Vice.

The Tab is going to be even bigger this year, and we want you to be involved.

No experience is necessary, just an interest in writing and a nose for a good story.

But don’t take our word for it, here’s why our writers love The Tab.

Padraig Mac Cionnaith said: “I joined The Tab with the intention of putting out one article and leaving as I’d have it to put down as something extra curricular on my CV, however after attending a few meetings and meeting the team I realised it was something I’d gladly do long term.

“Thirty something articles later and now I’m Belfast’s Head of Marketing. Not only is it a platform to be expressive, it’s a great opportunity to make new friends, learn new skills, and let your voice be heard – plus you get to hear lots of juicy goss.”

Niamh Campbell said: “I like being part of The Tab because it opens up lots of opportunities within journalism which is what I hope to pursue a career in.”

Conor Tinnelly said: “The Tab has been a real good way to explore my own peer group. Every time I write something I hear back from my friends, and I get to gauge what’s funny from that.

“It’s also a great way to meet new people because anyone looking a role in journalism seems to have an interesting personality about them – and if you do well enough you get the free drink which is always a big plus.”
