Power cut leaves Elms freshers without electricity and water

The premium elite weren’t affected

Last night Elms Village was plunged into darkness after a power cut left freshers without water or electricity.

The electricity in halls was unstable all night as some buildings momentarily regained power only to lose it again.

Freshers used precious moments of supply to stock up on of water, not knowing when they’d have access again.

Necessary supplies

The power cut lasted only 30 mins for the Holly Grove buildings but the flats in Sycamore were left without power for three hours.

Most of the premium suites did not lose power, with only some of the flats going dark briefly.

The benefits of being in premium

Freshers were left to alternate ways to light up the flats.

The route of the problem appeared to be the flats in Sycamore, who have repeatedly tripped the electricity.

Thank goodness for battery powered fairy lights

Social Anthropology first year Anne Bailie said: “Elms was about as bright as my future.”

Becky Hughes, an English and Drama fresher said: “It was so scary.”
