Queen’s is the best uni in Northern Ireland, again

Who cares anymore?

QUB is in the top 30 universities globally.

US News has released its global university rankings for 2016 and placed Queen’s in the upper echelons of academic institutions.

The Best Global Universities rankings rated twelve indicators of each institution and uses them to calculate the overall rank.

Ignore ’em, QUB

Queen’s was ranked 30th in the UK and came in joint 284th globally along with Simon Fraser University, University of Duisburg-Essen, and University of Witwatersrand (shrugs shoulders).

US News wrote: “Students can use these rankings to explore the higher education options that exist beyond their own countries’ borders and to compare key aspects of the schools’ research missions”.

This is bullshit

These arbitrary rankings have no bearing on the reality of studying at Queen’s.

With its 300 undergrad courses, Russell Group status and UUJ trailing behind us somewhere in the distance, Queen’s is undeniably the best uni in Northern Ireland.

Other unis may have smug top spots in these pointless lists but we have Seamus Heaney, so who’s the real winner here.
