Swathe of warnings threaten St Paddy’s fun in the Holylands

This will make your hangover worse

Queen’s University Belfast, Ulster University, Belfast City Council and the PSNI have sent out letters to 150 sixth form pupils warning them not to go to the Holylands on St. Patrick’s Day.

Guess you won’t be rocking the boat this year.

The warnings promise students that punishment for anti-social behaviour over the holiday will be “swift and severe”.

Holylands tenants were sent emails

The notorious Holylands are being monitored by the PSNI over the Paddys period.

Last year St Patrick’s Day saw a spate of crime in the area that resulted in one sexual assault.

The letter read: “On recent St Patrick’s Days there have been incidents of serious anti-social behaviour, accompanied by significant levels of drunkenness, in the Holyland area of South Belfast.

“This type of trouble was largely attributed to university students, but it subsequently emerged that many of those causing trouble in the Holyland on St Patrick’s Day were from post-primary schools.”

Some tenants of the Holylands were also sent a link to a video by their landlords in an attempt to squish any fun:
