Students from Queen’s took to the streets of Belfast to protest against cuts to university funding.

There are fears that increased fees combined with a decrease in places available and staff redundancies will lead to a “brain drain” in Northern Ireland as potential students look to study elsewhere.

As the University trade unions didn’t vote so support strike action, staff from the university and union could not legally strike.

However in an email from the SU, all students were encouraged to get involved, alongside their representatives on the Student Council to the demonstration outside the City Hall.
