Holylands horror: My new phone was delivered next door and now squatters have it forever

It wasn’t even an iPhone

| UPDATED christmas phone squatters

A hapless Holylands resident has been left devastated after his new phone was delivered to squatters next door – after a housemate jokingly changed the delivery address.

Second year Terrance Dinsmore was horrified to discover his precious Samsung was delivered to an abandoned house inhabited by squatters.

The Politics student was innocently awaiting the delivery of his newly repaired Samsung Galaxy S4 when it was given to settlers on Wolseley Street.

Assuming there had been a mistake, Terrance said: “I called the courier and it took twenty minutes to get through.

“When I  finally got through, they were unhelpful and condescending. I found out, however, that the phone had been signed for by an ‘E Blaney’.”

‘O2 were very helpful’

Desperate Terry then tried to contact the landlords for the flat in question, only to discover that police had in fact raided, and kicked out the occupants a month before the incident.

Police told him the building was now supposedly unoccupied.

The prevailing theory is that someone must have moved back into the building, which has a smashed front window.

But Terry has been able to look on the bright side of the devastating mix-up.

He said: “I’m always texting and emailing, but ironically, losing my phone has helped me finish my skills and methods project.

“I’ve been so busy working I haven’t missed it.”

‘Arrive before Christmas’ they said

Fortunately, there is hope for Terry. O2 has agreed to replace the phone at no cost.

“As it was away for repairs, all the data had been wiped, so I didn’t lose any pictures or contacts.

“I just wish they’d taken the SIM card out first.”
