Fire alarm brings McClay to a standstill… again

Sort it out

Students were forced to wait outside in the cold last night as the McClay’s fire alarm went off for the second time this week.

At approximately 11.30pm on Thursday evening, students had to abandon their panic-stricken essay writing and research to patiently wait for the alarm to be turned off.

The alarm then went for a few seconds ten minutes later.

Last Thursday the alarm went off again causing massive inconveniences for students who had to wait in the rain despite the closing in on deadline dates.

Last week’s disaster

Final year History student, Jennifer Greenaway, says of last nights debacle; “It was a complete inconvenience. I was in the zone writing my essay when the alarm went off.

“When I came back my train of thought had completely gone. Waiting in the rain wasn’t particularly nice either.”

Psychology student Emma McAneaney complained: “I was sat opposite a really sexy man but he left as soon as the alarm went off and never returned.

“So annoying”

Not only have students been locked in the library, they have now been locked out twice in one week.

To be locked in or not to be?

With the continued McClay debacles the appeal of studying in the library is now at an all time low.
