Two men arrested after devastating car crash kills 18-year-old fresher

18-year-old Enda Dolan, a first year Architecture student at QUB, was tragically killed in the early hours of this morning on Malone Road after being hit by a white Renault van at approximately 02.25am.

The Ambulance service was called out to the scene and 3 men were taken to hospital.

The Architecture fresher, from Omagh,  later died and another two men are suffering from injuries that are not life-threatening.

Two men have been arrested (aged 29 and 19) on suspicion of causing death through dangerous driving and driving unfit through drink or drugs.

Although now reopened city bound, Malone Road was closed between Osborne Park and Chlorine Gardens following the incident resulting in significant traffic delays throughout South Belfast. The Police continue to investigate the situation in the area.

Speaking from the scene this morning, an SDLP councillor said the incident has left the student community in the area “in total shock”.
