Northern Ireland is the happiest place in the UK…again?

Welcome new students to happy Northern Ireland

| UPDATED Antrim Fermanagh happy NI Omagh

A survey by the Office of National Statistics has revealed that Northern Ireland is once again the happiest place in the UK.

Antrim claimed the top spot as the happiest area in the whole of the UK with Omagh and Fermanagh  appearing in the top 5 places with the lowest anxiety levels.

Maybe it’s due to our long (proudly)-held reputation of being able to drink anyone from another country under the table that makes us forget the weather is terrible and our economy is going down the drain.

Northern Ireland was the only country where average ratings for a sense that what one does in life is worthwhile (8.0), happiness (7.7) and anxiety (2.8) were significantly different to the UK averages.

There are plenty of reasons people here are happier than in the rest. While our pubs may close earlier, living costs and university fees are much lower than in the rest of the UK.

It also means impromptu house parties are easy to find.

Last year Northern Ireland was also voted happiest place in the UK, with The Parlour named happiest of the happiest places.

We. Are. Ecstatic.
