Does the gym help a hangover?
What’s the best way to cure a hangover- lying in or lifting weights?
I have become one of those ‘gym people’ that are always whining about how sore they are from their workout. However, the other night I sat and thought ‘can the gym help with a hangover?’ I didn’t mean a small hangover, I was talking a real blinding ‘I’m never drinking again’ beast of one.
First of all I had to make sure I was well and truly drunk to ensure a hangover in the morning.
So I woke up (had a tactical boke) and then went off the gym. I would like to mention that I did feel like complete death as even the car journey there was a dodgy move.
I decided to man up and start a work out with my trainer. I had never felt so weak, it was as if all the life had been sucked out of me. There I was lifting weights when I couldn’t even get my arm up to brush my hair.
The more I worked out the more I felt that I was going to be sick. The five bottles of water I downed within the hour did not help.
Surprisingly, once I stopped feeling sorry for myself I found the workout much easier. I just kept on going and ended up enjoying it (even though my body was still in serious pain).
So did the gym help with my hangover? Well to begin with, NO! No it was horrible and I felt like I was going to projectile everywhere. Yet sweating out half the hangover didn’t feel too bad, even driving home was better than before.
My verdict is, even though it seems gruelling and tormenting, the gym definitely helps with a hangover. Maybe next time switch the bacon sandwich and duvet day for vitamin water and a treadmill. After you’ve thrown up, of course.
