Andrew Hughes, 23, of Saintfield Road, has been banned from every hospital in Northern Ireland following allegations that he trailed his ex-partner around Queen’s University Belfast, two days after being charged with an injunction forbidding harassment.

He allegedly followed his ex-partner as she left Belfast City Hospital, into a coffee shop at Queen’s Students’ Union and then onto her place of study at Queen’s University Belfast.

Alongside these allegations, the courtroom heard claims that Hughes tried to contact senior academics and university representatives in regards to the woman’s conduct at the university.

“He said he did this out of spite and to get her into trouble,” said prosecution counsel Mrs McKay.

Mr Justice Horner told Hughes, (who appeared by video-link) that his behaviour was unacceptable. While he was granted bail, the judge ordered him to have no direct or indirect contact with his former partner, including being in the town where she lives.
