Are you bored of uni work already? Or are you looking for something new and exciting to do in Belfast? Well, fear not. Here at The Tab, we have planned your week for you, so there’s no need look further!

Our weekly feature of ‘What’s on’ will tell you what’s on in Belfast for each day of the week. Whether it’s cookery classes or a Miley Cyrus concert at the Odyssey, we’ve got tabs on what’s going on in Belfast, just for you.

Monday 24th February

It’s student volunteer week this week, so get that good karma going and visit the various volunteering workshops and information stalls that are in the Students’ Union all week. You can find out more information on the Volunteer SU website and also sign up to the launch event online on Monday from 12-1.30pm in The Space.

Then, later on you can take off that sparkling halo from your head and relax in The Empire for The Big Quiz at 10pm. Entry costs £1.

Tuesday 25th February

Cuckoo hosts it’s cheapskate night tonight. £1.50 Jaegerbombs, free entry AND £2 drinks. A perfect way to spend the rest of your dwindling student loan.

Alternatively, Queen’s Radio are hosting the sixth round of their comedy event, Radio Haha, this Tuesday. Featuring local comedian Micky Bartlett, tickets cost £5 and the laughs start from 8.30pm in Bar Sub.

Wednesday 26th February

If you want a quiet night out and like poetry then head on down to No Alibis tonight. Jean Bleakney, author of three poetry collections will be the special guest poet at ‘the innovative Squat Pen Poetry night’. It starts at 6.30pm and finishes at 8pm and it’s completely free.

Or, there’s always Box.

Thursday 27th February

Feeling fit? Why not test your sporting prowess by entering Cuckoo’s ping-pong tournament. Starting at 9pm, the winner will receive a £20 bar tab, and the runner up a £10 bar tab. Think of all the jam jar cocktails you could buy with that…

 

Friday 28th February

Brendan Grace (from Father Ted) is doing a live stand up comedy act tonight at the Waterfront Hall. Tickets are a little on the expensive side at £20 each, but for all those fans of Father Ted out there, this is an excellent comedy act to see. Tickets are still available online.

Alternatively, for a slightly cheaper comedy act, Liam Williams is at The MAC tonight. Following a hugely successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe festival and a subsequent sold out London tour, his comedy has been ‘widely acclaimed’. Apparently think Jack Dee, but less famous. Tickets cost £15 each.

Additionally the Belfast Nashville Songwriters festival starts today. Hundreds of artists from all over the world will be playing in Belfast over the next 10 days, including more than 100 local artists.

Saturday 1st March

‘Apply some pressure’ on your friends tonight and go and see Maximo Park in the Limelight. Tickets are still available online, for £18.50 each (general admission).

Sunday 2nd March

Hungover from last night? Then take a stroll down to St. George’s market for an Ulster Fry to cure that dreaded alcoholically induced illness. The market opens its doors at 9am and lasts until 3pm. With a huge variety of stalls today ranging from arts & crafts to various stalls selling delicious foods, it’s a must, especially if you have never been before.
