Belfast teenager handed into police BY HIS PARENTS after he posts photo of his drug collection on Facebook

Meanwhile, Hardwell concert at the Odyssey turns into chaos as 100 teenagers are hospitalised


A Belfast teenager was handed over to police by his own PARENTS after posting a photo on Facebook of drugs he planned to sell in the Odyssey.

The 18-year-old posted a picture of bags of pills and white powder which he was bringing into the venue and then branded his friends “eedjits” for sharing the snap.

But it all ended in tears after his parents turned him into police, and he is currently in police custody.

Meanwhile, the concert descended into chaos with reports of:

  • 100 youths treated for intoxication
  • 14 treated in RVH and Mater hospitals
  • an estimated 300 ‘arrived intoxicated’ and were refused entry

Over 9,000 young revellers attended Dutch DJ Hardwell’s concert in the Odyssey which descended into a ‘major incident’ that required emergency services. Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesman John McPoland said: ‘We believe the majority arrived suffering from too much alcohol. We declared a major incident because of the number of resources we had to deploy to the scene.’

Belfast hospitals were put on standby to deal with the emergency situation and extra medical staff were drafted in.

Amongst the chaos of the event one teen’s stash of drugs and alcohol has gone viral on Facebook. The-18 year-old was handed over to PSNI by his own parents early this morning, and was charged with possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, after boasting on on his Facebook profile.

There were also problems inside the arena and footage has emerged of violence flaring and huge fights amongst some youths, whilst security staff struggle to retain control.

Parents were informed of the incident and rushed to pick up their children from the Odyssey arena.

The mums are coming.

Due to the severity of the incident in Belfast, DJ Hardwell’s gig in Edinburgh tonight has been cancelled. Colors announced on Facebook that following a meeting with Edinburgh city of commerce, and “due to the situation in Belfast, the concert will not be going ahead due to safety concerns.”
