QUB Flat Friends: Part 2

Part 2 of our run-down of the best house mascots, lucky charms and honorary flatmates Belfast has to offer.

Back by popular demand: after the success of our first installment and the numerous submissions of more of your weird and wonderful ‘mascots’, it’d be rude not to do a part two!

Dunluce

The residents of Dunluce have gone against the grain with their house mascot in the adoption of what can only be described as a plank of wood.

If you were a Cartoon Network fan as a child (who wasn’t, really) you’ll recognise the inspiration as none other than ‘Plank’ from ‘Ed,Edd and Eddy’.

Taking the innocent…

…and corrupting it.

Ironically reliving your childhood will never get old for drunken students. Dunluce has shown us that mascots don’t have to be complicated; merely a piece of wood with a drawn on face will suffice.

Many drunken photos with said mascot is obligatory.

Wellesley

The girls of Wellesley Avenue have adopted Ron, an IKEA rat, who has quickly become the centre of attention. From kidnappings to Christmas tree topper – Ron’s in high demand.

House mascots quickly can become a form of inter-house banter between friends. Ron has been through a lot during his time in Wellesley. He has been kidnapped multiple times, held over a cooker and put in a microwave. I’m sure the ransom snapchats did not go down well.

Ron’s a big hit with the ladies

Think you can do better than Dunluce and Wellesley?

Send in your entries to The Tab Belfast Facebook Page or email [email protected] and your house could be featured in the third installment!
