It’s our last week of freedom before class starts back for next semester next week, so here’s how you can enjoy every day without having to worry about revision or getting up early.

Monday 27th January

It’s got jamjar cocktails, beer pong and ping pong tables you say?!

After a quiet January it feels like life is returning back to normal again, with the return of everyone’s favourite Monday night out. CONNECTED at the SU returns this week, along with great 3 for £5 promos and the incredible double vodka and Red Bull for £4. Get the drinks in for a night of loosened morals and a morning after full of regret. But it’s not as if you’ll have class on Tuesday – sure you might as well enjoy yourself.

If you’d prefer something different than the crazy return of Connected, Cuckoo’s Big Fact Hunt, ‘Belfast most eccentric pub quiz’ starts at 9.30pm. It costs just a quid to enter, and prizes include a drinks tab, the second best type of Tab (sorry).

much eccentric, very facts

Tuesday 28th January

For those nursing a Connected-hangover, or itching to enjoy football and atmosphere, head to the Speakeasy in SU (if you can handle returning to the scene of the crime two days in a row) to watch the Merseyside Derby (Liverpool vs Everton) this Tuesday @ 8pm. Drinks offers include Tennants for just £2 if you’re in need of the hair of the dog.

As a great man once said “Let’s broaden our minds”…

If football doesn’t tickle your fancy why not try and put your intellect to the test with The Big Quiz in The Speakeasy @ 9.30PM. Gather the troops, answer questions, win prizes and fight it out in the monthly prize for £100 quid! You don’t even have to leave your seat after football, result.

And if it’s a quieter Tuesday you’re after, don’t forget it’s crazy Tuesday at Moviehouse Dublin Road, making all tickets only £3 (student prices are usually £4.50).

Wednesday 29th January

Same place same time? Continue your football fix through Wednesday with the Spurs vs Man City match @ The Speakeasy, 7.45pm. Drown your sorrows or celebrate your win with drinks offers, standard.

Drink offers – Tennants £2, Magners, Stella and Becks £2.50.

If a general knowledge quiz is a bit too terrifying, or if you fancy yourself as the ultimate music genius, you can put your skills to the test with the Midweek Music Quiz. Starting @ 9.30pm in Speakeasy, you can win big prizes and show off your musical tastes to your mates, “Oh yeah I know that answer, you’ve probably never heard of them”.

If you’d prefer to play your own music rather than answering questions on other peoples’, Cuckoo host their open mic night on Wednesdays from 9pm. With free admission and a free two tins of beer for every performer, there’s really no excuse not to show off your talents.

Down your two free drinks and give your best rendition of Baby One More Time

Thursday 30th January

By Thursday you’ll probably be sick and tired of the sight of SU, and wanting to explore a little further afield. Why not explore a little culture in the Cathedral quarter? It’s totally hip.

Take a trip to The Black Box to listen to ‘The Nation and Blackwell Bluegrass Band’ @ 8.00PM

Friday 31st January

Let’s be honest, Friday night union is pretty boring. Why not try something different and enjoy a gig in Bar Sub instead (still technically in the SU…). Tera Melos, a three-piece band from Northern California, will be playing from 8pm. A must for fans of experimental rock, jazz or finding new music rather than dancing awkwardly in Speakeasy all night.

Saturday 1st February

Hurray, the long, bleak month of January is finally over. Start of February with the wonderful music of Ron Pope, in Mandela Hall from 7pm.

If you aren’t able to get your hands on any of these coveted tickets, or fancy something a bit different, head down to the launch night of the Belfast punk and new wave club in Pavilion Bar, @ 9.00PM- 1.00AM (last entry 12.00AM)

Sunday 2nd February

Why not end your week as you started it, with a relaxing beer (by this time you might be feeling a little delicate). Speakeasy are showing sport again, and you can enjoy a rugby match with Ireland v Scotland showing @3pm. Regardless of the winner, class starts tomorrow and that deserves a pint if nothing else.

He’s just realised he’s missed out on £2 pints of Tennants and he’s up at 9 tomorrow for class – And he’s devastated.
