Blackhouse bouncers turned people away despite valid tickets

People paid £120 for the platinum wristbands

Without a doubt, Blackhouse is the best event in town, but it’s not quite so great if you’re one of the unlucky few people who were turned away from the event by door staff despite having the platinum wristbands purchased for £120.

The platinum wristband is supposed to let the owners into every event thrown up at the SU, including Blackhouse and the Summer Ball. Due to miscommunication with the door staff, people were turned down when trying to use their platinum wrist bands.

Blackhouse reassured clubbers on Facebook, promising to make sure they got in and offering a free drink as an apology.

No house this weekend

Prior to the event, Blackhouse announced on Facebook that door staff and bouncers had been made aware of the platinum wrist band deals, however, when arriving at the door, excited revellers were sent away for not having valid tickets.

Tbf I’d go back for that

After public complaints on Facebook and at the doors, Blackhouse officially acknowledged the mishap and communication issue with its door staff and made amends by offering free drinks and an apology.

This isn’t the first problem arising with the platinum wristbands. Promised events such as the winter ball did not run at all. Said events lead to a number of platinum wristband owners calling for refunds for the £120 ticket.

Third year Lucy-Kate Morris was amongst the people who got turned away at the door. She told us: “They wouldn’t let us in at the door, so I got ready for basically nothing. It’s not fair when Blackhouse said on the bio for the event that the platinum wristbands work.

“I’m probably be going to try and get a refund for the band. Not only have they turned us away from Blackhouse but we were meant to have a Christmas/winter ball and that wasn’t done.”

It is reported that Blackhouse reconsidered the circumstances after outcry on Facebook and later in the evening let people with platinum wristbands into the event.
