Aber student hid camera in toilet brush to spy on housemates in shower

He also had footage of them on his laptop

A former Aberystwyth student faces jail after being caught secretly filming his female housemates in the shower.

A court heard how 22-year-old Kyle Ryunosuke Walker hid a camera in a toilet brush before his housemate found the spying device while cleaning the bathroom.

Walker’s two appalled female housemates questioned him about the device before calling the police.

Prosecutor Steven Davies told the court police found more videos of naked girls in the shower stored on Walker’s laptop.

One video filmed an unsuspecting nude girl for an entire twelve minutes and another for six.

The Police arrested Walker, who promptly admitted in an interview: “Okay, it was me. I was filming the girls. I’m a perv.”

In a later interview, Walker, from Stratford, East London, told police the camera was sound-activated and said how he placed the camera in the toilet brush in an attempt to secretly film his naked housemates.

But he denied any wrongdoing, saying he didn’t realise the practise was illegal.

Walker, who has since left Aberystwyth, pleaded guilty to two charges of voyeurism in court and faces jail time.

Walker’s Defence Solicitor told the court his client accepted there were multiple aggravating factors including a breach of trust, but asked magistrates to not send the case to the crown court.

He added that while Walker had kept the footage, he had not attempted to pass it on to anyone.

Magistrates adjourned sentencing until 2 December to allow a pre-sentence report to be completed.

Walker remains on conditional bail.
