I completed the ‘Hulk Burger Challenge’ at Lord Beechings

But they didn’t give me the T-Shirt

Everybody at Vodka Tuesday passes through Beechings for a few drinks, but not many know about the main attraction: the Hulk Burger challenge.

The challenge involved eating a 30oz burger with bacon, cheese, BBQ sauce and chips in a jumbo roll, plus a super sundae of your choice – but all in under an hour.

If you’re successful you win a T-shirt, your name on the Hulk Burger Challenge board and 4,500 calories.

Hungry Interpol second year Benyamin Stoanes stepped up to the plate and we were there every step of the way.

Ready to fight the Hulk Burger

After ordering the burger, the owner of the pub told us : “The record of the challenge is 16:50 minutes, done by a young man who came here twice as the first time he did the challenge he wasn’t satisfied with his time of 22 minutes.

“What is hard for preparing the challenge is big groups. We only have six burgers ready to be cooked and each one of them takes three days to defrost.”

Benyamin, who hoped to join this illustrious figure, said: ” The beef is actually beef. It tastes amazing. It’s just a little hard to cut.”

“Really hidden in the patty, there’s also actual veggies such as tomatoes and salad. Great for your 5 a day portion of veggies.”

Thw owner returned to our table to talk more about the challenge: “Groups are more than welcome to participate at the challenge, they just have to notice it on time. Last  year the Rugby team did it and three people managed to get their name on the board.

“Also, five of the the staff have tried the challenge – me included.”

Struggling

Everyone in Beechings chatted about Benyamin doing the challenge – especially with the record under threat.

He finished the burger in an impressive 17 minutes, and then took on the toffee super sundae.

Almost there

Benyamin said: “Now it’s time for the liquid diabetes. I don’t think I can actually do it, I can feel my heart arteries being clogged. But the burger was dank.”

Eventually the Sundae arrived: a refreshing dessert on its own but the last thing Benyamin wanted to see.

The dessert

Benyamin tried to make his way through the pudding, but was ultimately defeated. So we asked for two spoons and helped him finish the job.

Lending a helping hand

Half an hour and 4,500 calories later, Benyamin said: “The challenge is possible but you really need to be prepared for post-health effects and I wasn’t.

“It’s like having all your meals of the day in one burger.”

FINISHED

After witnessing Benyamin’s efforts, the manager decided to add the second year to the famous Hulk Burger board. But Benyamin’s sense of achievement was tempered when the manager announced they had run out of T-shirts.
