Racist graffiti saying ‘ban Islam’ and showing a swastika found in the Sir Duncan library

The issue is ongoing

Racist graffiti saying "ban islam" and showing a swastika was found around midday today in the toilets of the Sir Duncan library.

Shortly after it was found in the 4th floor disabled toilets, an "out of order" sign was put on the door.

This follows a warning from the university on the 1st of December that they would be "carrying out increased patrols in response to this ongoing issue" in response to racist and homophobic graffiti being found throughout Kings Campus.

The student who found the graffiti told the Tab Aberdeen: "I was horrified. This sort of behaviour should be exposed and deemed unacceptable."

Regarding the earlier graffiti around campus, Keith Campbell, Head of Security and Portering of the University's Estates and Facilities, said: "This behaviour is unacceptable, and very likely to constitute a criminal offence under Hate Crime legislation."
