REVEALED: Inside the mystery building at Hillhead

First years: I bet you’ve all been wondering what is actually inside that new building right smack-bang in the middle of Hillhead? What exactly is behind the building site racket that has been waking us at such unsociable hours like 11 in the morning?

Well I sneaked into it with an applicant open day tour to find out.

Swanky colour scheme

It’s just our luck that the year we leave student accommodation is the year they’ve actually put work into making it pretty decent.

The new building is a communal area for all Hillhead residents. Parts of it are open now and others are due to open gradually through the coming months.

There’s a huge cafeteria, which will hopefully have some student friendly prices, and where you will be able to eat with friends without carrying your frozen pizza across the courtyard to cook in their oven.

How gourmet

The uni is at last starting to tackle the main problem at Hillhead halls, that it’s pretty difficult to meet people outside your block. The new building has multiple common rooms, with TVs and comfy seating so you can meet up with friends without one of you having to sacrifice the cleanliness of your own kitchen.

As well as watching the football with mates, the new centre has a place where you could play it. There’s a gym hall/auditorium, probably so that you can work off the food you’ve just eaten in the cafeteria.

So finally there’s going to be a communal social space at Hillhead. Freshers 2016 is looking pretty great already, pres for 2-3000 anyone?
