A Second Day of Strike Action for Aberdeen Uni

Tomorrow, Tuesday December 3rd, will be the second day of national strike action by Unison, the University and College Union, Unite and the Educational Institute of Scotland.

Academics are joining forces following strike action on October 31st, which made for a cosy lie in after the carnage of pre-Halloween.

This will disrupt classes nationally, as tutors and professors remain dissatisfied at their rate of pay.  The unions claims that since October 2008 there has been a 13% pay cut in real terms and are committed to striking until a satisfactory agreement has been made.

Academics joined forces and faced the cold last month.

In other words, we will keep getting a wee day off now and then until the rate of pay has risen.

How to fill your Tuesday:

  • Lie in, spend the day in bed like a king
  • Indulge in a 2 for Tuesday Dominoes
  • Enjoy a stroll on the beach
  • Beat the Christmas rush and do some shopping
  • Go to the library to do some studying, or perhaps venture out to other university buildings such as Meston, Taylor library or Alfie’s café to get some of that much needed work done.

However you choose to spend your day kids, have a happy Tuesday

*Please note, not all classes and tutorial are cancelled. Don’t go too wild.
