Before and after: The Islanders who have been ditching their fillers

One Islander has reversed £100k worth of surgery

| UPDATED

Right now, it seems like there are a wave of influencers who are removing fillers they’ve previously had done. Among those are a bunch of Love Island cast members, who are sharing photos of their new looks, after they’ve decided to ditch the cosmetic fillers.

It’s nothing new that Islanders have huge transformations before heading onto the show, and then even bigger ones after they leave the show and embrace their newfound fame. But a lot go back on these choices, and decide to make a U-turn with work they’ve had done on themselves. Here are all the before and after pictures of contestants from Love Island who have publicly said they removed fillers.

2019 Love Island star, Molly-Mae Hague, has been very public with saying she has had fillers removed from her face and lips, after she posted a YouTube video and got backlash from people saying she had a “new face”. Molly-Mae said she’d previously been getting fillers since she was 17-years-old, after feeling insecure about her lips. However, she had a change of heart and said she wanted to “embrace her natural self”.

Speaking on a podcast, she said: “By the age of 21, I didn’t look like the same person. I literally looked like a different person. When I look back at pictures now, I’m terrified of myself. I’m like, ‘Who was that girl?’ I don’t know what happened.  But there was this one pivotal moment where I’d gone and got loads of filler and I posted a YouTube video and I hadn’t let the filler settle and it was really swollen and a screenshot from that video, it trended on Twitter for weeks. It was horrendous. It was utterly horrendous.”

She is reported to have undergone £5,800 worth of procedures to have filler dissolved.

Anna Vakili

In 2021, Anna Vakili said she was reversing £100k of surgery as she wanted a more “natural look”. She then posted a TikTok, which has since been deleted, and said: “Less fillers, fuller brows and a hair colour change has really done the most.” The video showed pictures of her in the villa, compared to her now. She looks totally different!

Speaking to The Sun, the Islander said: “If I could get all the money back that I’ve spent on fillers, hair extensions, my teeth, boobs and everything like that – I would be rich!!!”

Megan has always been open about what work she’s had done, saying she had a nose job, boob job, lip fillers and veneers in her late teens. But she’s another Love Island star who has gone the opposite way and decided to have her lips dissolved.

Shaughna Phillips

Shaughna, who was on the 2020 winter series of the show, has opened up about recently making the choice to dissolve her filler. “I realised I hadn’t seen myself without lip filler for eight years,” she told Heat. “I was so scared that I wouldn’t be able to look in the mirror, which sounds so vain. That was the biggest concern of mine. And then once I’d done it, I realised there is way more going on in the world than me worrying about having big lips.”

Olivia Attwood

Back in 2019, Olivia Attwood said she had some of her top lip filler removed, saying she had taken getting it done “too far”. She said that after visiting a cosmetic surgeon, she was “convinced” by the doctor to have some of her filler dissolved, and said on Instagram: “I think she’s [the doctor] so right, I’ve been having lip fillers for years, probably five or six years.

“That lip has started to come out of the lip line and started to look really puffy – something I never wanted, so I’m actually excited to start again fresh. It looks better than it did because it was over-filled.”

Olivia had previously had lip filler and filler under her eyes, but since getting some removed has said she is “excited” to have more work in the future.

Faye Winter

Since leaving the 2021 villa, finalist Faye has had loads of her filler removed and is looking a lot more natural. On Instagram she said she had a “lip flip” done, to make her lips look more shapely, but less full. She went on to say at “the biggest they were” her lips had 4ml of filler in them.

“Looking back at the photos, I probably should have done it sooner,” she added. “We all learn from our mistakes. You guys can all learn from me.”

Sharon Gaffka

Earlier in 2022, Sharon Gaffka revealed a new look after having her lip fillers dissolved. During her time in the villa, she had a huge row with Hugo Hammond after he called her “fake” and she said he didn’t know the reasons behind why people get work done.

Sharon told Capital after the show: “It was more than the comments made in the game, that really threw me off the edge a bit with those comments. You don’t get to see everything that happens and there’s more to that, when I brought it up to him. It’s not his preference that’s the problem, it’s the negative connotations that he used. So, for me I have no issues with his preference, everyone has a preference in everything, that’s completely okay. I basically just wanted to say to him, ‘Be a bit careful with the language that you use’.”

AJ Bunker

AJ Bunker, who appeared on the 2021 series of Love Island, has said after the show she got £1,000 worth of fillers removed from her face. Posting about her choice, she thanked her doctor, and said: “As some of you may have seen, prior to Love Island I made the biggest mistake going too far with filler in the panic of feeling like I had to look a certain way for TV.

“I tried to iron out imperfections that I thought I saw on myself, however they weren’t really there. I panicked and got too much done, but didn’t see the change it made to my face. Since leaving the villa and watching my episodes back, I hardly recognised myself on the screen.”

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu

Ekin-Su has spoken about her cosmetic work, saying she has plans to dissolve all lip filler she has ever had. Speaking to The Guardian, she said you can no longer lie about having had work done when you “clearly have” and that she prefers the “natural” look.

“Whatever lip filler I have, I’m going to dissolve,” she said. “I didn’t like the fake look. I think natural beauty is a lot prettier.” She said this is also why she decided to go back to full brunette hair, without the blonde highlights she had previously.

When she entered the Love Island 2022 villa, it was revealed Ekin-Su had spent thousands on cosmetic work. She has had a boob job in the past, as well as spending over £1,200 on facial fillers and £4,000 on getting her teeth done.

Olivia from the 2023 series has posted on Instagram to say she’s dissolved her lip filler. Sharing a picture of her lips, she said: “Had my top lip filler dissolved today. Been wanting to have it done for a while. Let me know if you guys want a video on how it was!”
