20 years on, what is James Mackenzie the host of Raven up to now?

He still posts about the show all the time šŸ„ŗ

PSA: Raven, the show we all used to watch on CBBC and lie awake at night worrying about those who attempted the Way of the Warrior on, is turning 20 this year. Yes, really. I am shocked and appalled. The show first aired in December 2002, and Raven host James Mackenzie has called for the episodes to now be added to BBCiPlayer to mark the event, and tbh, I agree.

So, all this time on – what is James up to? Here’s what the host of Raven has been up to since the show first aired.

Ā So, what is James Mackenzie from Raven up to now?

These days, James Mackenzie is married and has a son. He’s working as an actor and voiceover artist, and is still very much in the children’s TV game. He’s 43,Ā lives in Biggar, Lanarkshire, with his actress wife Helen McAlpine and their young son, Magnus.

For two years, between 2015 and 2017, James had a role in River City, a Scottish soap opera. He now stars in a new childrenā€™s TV favourite, Molly And Mack. The show is about an eight-year-old girl named Molly who spends the summer helping her older brother Mack at a toy stall. James plays the kids’ father, who is also called James.

James also appeared in Outlander from 2018 to 2019, playing a convict called Caleb. Speaking of the tonal whiplash of going from CBeebies to that, James said: “I was beaten to within an inch of my life in Outlander and left for dead after being dragged by a horse through a forest. And yes, I did actually have to be dragged by a horse. We filmed it in the woods near Callander in Perthshire, which was doubling for the wilds of North America.

ā€œBut I had messages from people who earlier in the evening had been watching CBeebies with their kids, before settling down to Outlander after putting them to bed. One person tweeted saying ā€˜Jeez ā€” Molly and Mackā€™s dad has had a really rough couple of hoursā€™.ā€

One thing is for sure, James Mackenzie absolutely lives for Raven, even now. He’s constantly talking about the show on Twitter, sharing throwbacks and reminiscing on how good it was. It really was a time, and it will live on forever.

This makes my heart so full!
