Johnny Depp just posted his first TikTok – and Amber Heard’s already responded

‘As Johnny Depp moves forward, women’s rights are moving backward’

Johnny Depp’s been living it up since he won his million-dollar defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard. The actress is set to pay him £8 million, after a jury found she libelled him in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed.

In the last week alone, he’s toured the UK, hung out with Sam Fender, spent £50k on curry and pet baby badgers in Kent. Two days ago (6th June), he set up a TikTok account – and last night, he posted his first video.

The TikTok amassed around 14 million views overnight, and Johnny wrote a statement to his fans in the caption. It hasn’t been well-received by everyone, though, as Amber Heard’s spokesperson has already responded.

@johnnydeppTo all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together. You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD♬ Stranger – Love Joys

Johnny’s video showed a compilation of clips from outside the Fairfax County Courtroom in Virgina, US. From fans picketing the trial to Johnny smoking in the car, the TikTok painted a picture of a likeable man celebrating his victory. He added a vintage filter over the top and the whole thing was set to Stranger by the Love Joys.

In the statement, the 58-year-old wrote: “To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together… and now, we will all move forward together.

“You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love and respect, JD”.

Amber Heard responded to the video through her spokesperson: “As Johnny Depp says he’s ‘moving forward,’ women’s rights are moving backward,” she said.

“The verdict’s message to victims of domestic violence is… be afraid to stand up and speak out.”
