All the details on Dami: This year’s Love Islander looking for… a wife?!

Chloe Burrows reckons he has the ‘luck of the Irish’

Happy Love Island Day to all who celebrate (unless you’re reading this in the future, obviously). Everyone’s favourite reality show finally comes back tonight (6th June) after a year away.

11 new Islanders will step into the villa for the first time – including 26-year-old Dami Hope. Could he be our next winner? Here’s everything you need to know:

Dami is 26 and from Dublin

Also, he’s like SUPER clever. He works as a senior microbiologist, which means he studies life forms which cause viruses and diseases. Impressive – but hopefully this won’t actually come in handy during his time in the villa.

This year, Dami wants to “be more open to new things” – which is the driving force behind him joining the show. “Love Island is a different experience, I’ll be talking to different girls, it might not go well with some, might go well with others. So, it’s a fun experience,” he said.

He already has 11,200 followers on Instagram

Dami’s presence on Insta has practically exploded since he was announced as a contestant. His whole vibe is a bit quirky, bit bougie – but he’d probably take you on an expensive meal out. He clearly loves a bucket hat and matching his style with his surroundings – take a look at that pink shirt/wall combo. Perfection.

His mum wants him to find a wife ASAP!!!

There NEEDS to be a nice girl in the villa for Dami to introduce to his mum. It’s literally a necessity. “I’ve been single for four years,” he said. “But my mum keeps pestering me about having a wife and saying how at my age she was already pregnant with me. I’m actually enthusiastic to see if I can find someone.”

Dami loves a bit of astrology

He’s an Aries, which apparently makes him “very passionate… I always used to put the other person first. I’m really good at being in a team and actually looking after each other.” Sorry, I might actually steal him for myself.

He doesn’t have have a type (even on paper)

“(My dating history is) very diverse,” he said. “I’ve dated different people from different cultures.” Dami describes himself as “open-minded.”
