Matthew Morrison reportedly fired from show after sending ‘inappropriate’ texts

A contestant from So You Think You Can Dance felt ‘uncomfortable’

According to reports, former Glee star Matthew Morrison has been fired from So You Think You Can Dance after sending “inappropriate” texts to a colleague.

On 27th May, just one week after the 17th season started, the actor revealed he’d left the show after failing to follow “competition production protocols.” An unnamed source has now clarified he was sacked for sending “flirty” texts to a female contestant.

While Morrison never met up with the contestant outside of the show, it’s said the messages still “crossed the line.”

“He had an inappropriate relationship with a female contestant,” the source told PEOPLE. “They didn’t have sex, but he reached out to her through flirty direct messages on social media.”

The unidentified contestant felt “uncomfortable with his line of comments and went to producers, who then got Fox involved. He was fired after they did their own investigation.”

Morrison released a statement about his exit to the press: “Having the opportunity to be a judge on So You Think You Can Dance was an incredible honor for me,” he said. “Therefore, it is my deepest regret to inform you that I will be leaving the show.

“After filming the audition rounds for the show and completing the selection of the 12 finalists, I did not follow competition production protocols, preventing me from being able to judge the competition fairly. I cannot apologize enough to all involved and I will be watching alongside you all on what I know will be one of the best seasons yet.”
