Theo from Love Island is suing Wayne Lineker’s company for ‘nearly blinding him’
He reportedly wants thousands in compensation
Love Island’s Theo Campbell is suing Wayne Lineker’s company for allegedly nearly blinding him in August 2019.
It was last reported in November Theo was launching legal action against Ocean Beach Club Ibiza after a champagne cork hit him in the eye during a party hosted by the club.
And now his legal team has told The High Court Theo wants “thousands” in compensation from Ice Mountain Ibiza SL, which Wayne Lineker is a director of.
In August 2019 Theo was nearly blinded when a champagne cork popped off in his direction and left Theo with a penetrating cornea injury in his right eye which required 11 stitches once Theo returned to the UK.
Theo’s lawyers are claiming his injuries prevented him in taking part in MTV’s The Challenge in which he had previously won £145,000. Theo’s reps are now saying if he was able to return to the show he could have won £750,000.
Ice Mountain Ibiza SL has denied all liability for the incident.
An international serious injury expert at Irwin Mitchel, who is representing Theo, said Theo’s injury should not be underestimated.
They said: “The seriousness of Theo’s injury should not be underestimated. He was in hospital in Ibiza for five days where he underwent surgery twice. Since his return to the UK, Theo has undergone further operations.
“Despite the best efforts of all the surgeons involved in Theo’s care he still suffers sight issues and his condition continues to affect him every day. His injuries have meant that he has been unable to work as much as he would normally, and his quality of life has deteriorated.”
At the time of the incident Theo was on a trip with a number of other Love Islanders and was seen partying with Wayne before the accident occurred.
