Vote: Who is undeniably the most annoying character there’s ever been on YOU?
I don’t like to speak ill of the dead, but Beck was just the worst
A lot of the characters in YOU on Netflix are straight up annoying, it needs to be said. The drama is intense and the deaths can be sad, but it boils down to a lot of entitled people being rich and irritating most of the time. Joe Goldberg says it himself, he only kills people who deserve it. And if being annoying was a crime, nobody in this cast would survive longer than Natalie did in season three. But it’s time to crown the most annoying character YOU has ever had – the vote is finally here.
From the dumb and entitled Beck, to the hot mess Forty and self-absorbed Sherry and Cary – there have been a lot to choose from. Here is everyone who deserves to be nominated as the most annoying character in YOU ever, and you can cast your vote at the bottom.
Look, I’m sorry. Beck was sweet, kind and innocent and really did deserve better. But, she had so many red flags presented to her and continued to be fine with Joe. Also, I have never come across anyone so naive, and quite frankly dumb at times, in all my life. She fell onto train tracks drunk? Shagged her therapist? Was a poor student living in a gorgeous flat in New York? Does she want to be any more girl next door stereotypes? Could have tried harder to escape, in my humble opinion. Oh and are forgetting how ungrateful and lazy she was? And she lied about her dad being dead!! And she spent her whole life talking about being a writer… but never did any writing!! And also, should have known better than to not own curtains. Who does that?
Beck’s ex boyfriend was possibly the worst man on the planet. Not only did he not realise he was punching ridiculous amounts and treated Beck like shit, but just his whole life existence was annoying. He was so: Start up! Business! New York baby! Whisky! Rock and roll! But in reality, massive loser. End of.
Rich and bitchy. Did she ever really like Beck or did she just enjoy having a poor friend to pity and save? She only gets a few bonus points for seeing right through Joe.
Deserves to be here for calling Joe “bunny” and for that alone.
Look, I know Love has had an absolute *moment* in season three, and for that she will always be an icon. But we can’t just breeze past how god-awfully irritating she was in season two. Her pathetic face looking up at Joe will haunt my dreams forever. She was just so ugh, and her quirkiness was her only real personality trait. “Do you think this peach looks like a butt?” Shut up. Not to mention the fact she’s rich and entitled personified. Sometimes this woman doesn’t realise she was born. Also, never forgiving her for “I wolf you” – that was too far.
Great guy, but massive hot mess. Forty just needed a huge reality check and for someone to slap him round the face. He was just a little bit of an idiot for showing up in Anarvin with a gun. Don’t get me wrong it was probably the saddest death of the second season, but very, very avoidable if he’d been a little more level-headed. RIP.
Rude, nasty and rich. Is there a worst trio of personality traits? And I’m still not over the scene where she stole Henry, drunk drove him through a taco drive-thru and set fire to a vineyard. I’ve had enough.
Theo is a nice enough guy, but come on now, GROW UP. Love is your much older neighbour who’s married with a child. The way he doted over her, please. She wasn’t even very nice to him and he was simping over her hard. I bet even after she’s whacked him over the head and basically killed him he’d still go back if she asked. Him seductively eating muffins isn’t enough to change the fact that he is annoyingly naive and lazy. What does he even DO?
This mommy influencer stuff is just EXHAUSTING. Tell us again that you have twins and a blog, I dare you. Sherry made everything about her – her crocodile tears and fake expressions of love when Natalie went missing and getting front and centre when the newscasters came around. I swear we all know a person who would revel in pretending to best friends with us if something happened and we made it to the news. The worst types of people. Hashtag Natalie Come Home.
All that being said, by the end of season three I adored Sherry a little bit. She’s just smart, and knows the whole influencer life is a massive gimmick, but it brings home the bag. I can’t help but have respect.
And here comes Madre Linda’s resident gym addict and I’m-better-than-you guy. He’s just every kind of person you don’t like in real life, where the gym is his only personality trait and he loves himself more than he could love anyone else. Gives you a dirty look when you don’t know what supplement he’s drinking and cannot fathom the idea of enjoying bread. Cary is completely carried in his marriage by Sherry, who was at least a little bit iconic by the end. Alone, Cary would just quite simply be: Annoying.
