Netflix’s latest limited drama series Maid tells the gripping and heartbreaking story of a single mother escaping an abusive home and trying to raise her daughter whilst also working as a maid. Maid is full of stunning scenery, occasionally lighthearted moments and features an incredible cast, with many featuring in previous Netflix series.

Maid has stayed firmly in the top 10 this week on Netflix thanks in part to its impressive cast who are really at the heart of the story and for once the cast members are playing characters similar to their own age.

Margaret Qualley takes on the lead role and is joined by other stand out names including Andie MacDowell, Billy Burke and Nick Robinson. They’ve all starred in big projects before and you’re likely to recognise the cast from other Netflix shows including Ginny and Georgia and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Alex – Margaret Qualley

Margaret Qualley takes on the lead role in Maid as the character Alex. Alex is a young mother who leaves her violent and abusive relationship with her daughter and begins working as a maid.

Margaret has appeared in number of shows and films before. You’ll probably recognise her best from her appearance in the 2019 film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.

She had a role in the series The Leftovers for three years and recently appeared in the mini series Fosse/Verdon alongside Michelle Williams.

Sean – Nick Robinson

Sean is the boyfriend of Alex and father of Maddy. He is prone to violent outbursts and excessive drinking. In the series he is played by 26 year old Nick Robinson.

Nick has been acting since he was a teenager, with his first biggest role as Ryder in the series Melissa & Joey.

He’s also taken lead roles in Jurassic World, Love, Simon and A Teacher.

Paula – Andie MacDowell

Legendary actress Andie MacDowell takes on the role of Alex’s mother, Paula, in Maid. In real life Andie is Margaret’s actual mother which explains the incredible family resemblance.

Andie MacDowell is best known for her roles in Four Weddings and A Funeral, Groundhog Day and Sex, Lies and Videotape.

She’s been acting since the mid 80s and has over 70 acting credits to her name, as well as a number of producer credits too.

Nate – Raymond Ablack

Nate is a key character who helps Alex get back on track by offering her rides and giving her a car, he also has an extremely obvious crush on her.

Nate is played by Raymond Ablack who Netflix viewers will recognise from the series Ginny and Georgia.

However that’s not his only big acting role. Raymond has previously appeared in Narcos and many seasons of Degrassi.

Regina – Anika Noni Rose

Anika Noni Rose takes on the role of Regina in Maid. Regina is a high powered lawyer whose house Alex cleans from the very first episode of the series.

Whilst you might not immediately recognise her face, you will definitely know her voice from the animated Disney film The Princess and The Frog as Anika played the lead role of Tiana.

Anika has began acting since the late 90s and appeared in Dreamgirls, The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency and Little Fires Everywhere.

And Anika has already been in a film with Nick who plays Sean when they both appeared in the movie Everything, Everything in 2017.

Hank – Billy Burke

Sorry but if you don’t recognise this is Billy Burke aka Bella’s dad from Twilight then you’re a fake fan.

Billy Burke plays the role of Hank in Maid, Alex’s dad who is distant and has started a different life with his new family.

The Twilight saga isn’t Billy’s only claim to fame however he’s also appeared in the series 9-1-1 Lone Star and Revolution.

Denise – BJ Harrison

It’s impossible to not like the character of Denise who runs the domestic violence shelter Alex and Maddy stay at.

Denise is played by BJ Harrison who not only has a very warm face but a recognisable one too. If you’re a big Netflix fan then you will already know BJ from A Series Of Unfortunate Events and the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Those aren’t her only acting credits though, BJ has also appeared in Rise of the Planet of The Apes, Fort Salem and a number of TV movies.
