These are all the real life filming locations of Nine Perfect Strangers

You can actually stay at Tranquillum House

Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers has finally dropped on Amazon Prime and the first episode will have you seriously wanting to throw away your phone and spend 10 days relaxing in the middle of nowhere. Though the cast and drama are great, the real star of Nine Perfect Strangers has to be the incredible filming locations.

The eight part series is an adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s book of the same name and follows nine strangers who travel to a wellness retreat called Tranquillum House. But this is not a simple 10 days of massages and kale juices, at the retreat they are put through some rather unique and intense methods by Russian guru Masha played by Nicole Kidman.

Despite the rather odd methods there is no denying the beauty of the retreat and it turns out it’s an actual retreat you can go to. Sadly Nicole Kidman will not make an appearance.

This is everything you need to know about the filming locations of Nine Perfect Strangers:

Where is Nine Perfect Strangers set?

In Liane Moriarty’s novel Tranquillum House is based in Australia however for the show the fictional retreat is set in North California.

Where was Nine Perfect Strangers filmed?

Despite being based in Northern California, the Hulu show was filmed in Australia. The majority of the scenes were filmed in a real life retreat called SOMA.

SOMA is a retreat 10 minutes outside of Byron Bay and is set in 22 acres of rainforest. There’s two pools, an outdoor cinema, a fire pit and a yoga dome for guests to use. The outside pool is instantly recognisable for the scene in which Melissa McCarthy chokes on a grape.

The retreat offers a variety of packages either based on meditation, redesign or advance rounding (I have no clue what it means either). Unlike the series the retreats only last a maximum of five days and cost a minimum of $2,500 for a stay.

And it’s safe to say the resort is stunning:

I recognise that tree.

But the resort isn’t the only filming location for Nine Perfect Strangers. The series also filmed at a sustainable timber plantation called Lune de Sang for a number of interior scenes.

Filming also continued throughout Australia in Sydney, New South Wales and the cliff diving scenes were shot at Killen Falls in Ballina.
