Meet the man behind the meme: Netflix is releasing a documentary about Bob Ross

It’s coming this summer

Netflix has announced it is releasing a documentary about legendary painter and meme icon, Bob Ross.

Announcing the news on Twitter, Netflix said: “Meet the man behind the meme. Discover the life and legacy of timeless landscape artist Bob Ross in BOB ROSS: HAPPY ACCIDENTS, BETRAYAL & GREED, coming to Netflix this summer.”

The documentary will tell the fascinating life story of the legendary TV painter and give never before seen insight into his career. Robert Norman Ross was an American painter, art instructor and television host. He was the creator and host of The Joy of Painting TV show, which aired from 1983 to 1994. It’s been 25 years since he died, but he still lives on through countless memes which he has become the face of.

Previously, Bob Ross Collections, a series about his work, had been on Netflix – but it left the site last year. The new documentary will be released in the summer, and will be a documentary film.

The announcement comes as Netflix prepares an entire slate of new films coming over summer. These include Zack Snyder’s Army Of The Dead and Woman In The Window starring Amy Adams. As well as those, also coming is Fatherhood featuring Kevin Hart and The Kissing Booth 3. There will be new movies released every single week.

The exact release date for Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal and Greed on Netflix is yet to be announced. To be the first to know, and for all the latest Netflix news, drops, quizzes and memes like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.
